We'd probably be pretty happy. Drexel would be the 4-seed and have Northeastern (#1) in their bracket for the semi-final.
At this point, though, it doesn't matter so much. We are definitely playing like a team that could finish in the top 3 of this conference, and we have shown we can control games against good teams. Let's hope we keep this up!

No arguing with that. It would just be nice if there were some solid road wins. It all leaves me a bit leery, especially if the standings stay hold, making the 4/5 game against no other than VCU. Walking away with another beating at ODU and a blown opportunity at W&M doesn't inspire confidence. The Hofstra game and especially the VCU game are going to be very important to the team. Otherwise, it could be another short stay in that joyful city.
One thing that strikes me about our schedule down the stretch is how absolutely meaningless the Bracket Buster game is (and how that is generally true for most teams in the event, since they are not going to be busting any brackets anyhow).
For Drexel, the only upside (and perhaps this is actually a big upside) is the chance to play a competitive road game. Other than that, we gain nothing other than an extra road trip, which is tiring, an extra game to wear down our players, and an extra chance for someone to get injured.
For us, it's all about the CAA, and it's all about finishing as high as we can. So, would it be so bad if Bru were to rest a few guys at Bradley?

I think this idea has come up every season, except for in '07. Everyone agrees it would be best to get the bench players more PT to prep for the big game, but everyone knows Bruiser is going to have all the starters in for their usual minutes barring a blow out in either direction.
Perhaps it's really not all that bad anyhow. I mean, they always knew there would be a game, and they knew it would be on the road. Iona would have been better given the distance, but barring injuries, this probably won't be such a big deal.

The thing is we play so many guys that the players get plenty of rest, jamie not included. But Jamie got solid rest agaisnt towson, so I am not so concerned with him.
I actually think it has some meaning for us this year because we need a good road victory to make a case for an NIT berth. At the moment they are also playing well and are now tied for 3rd in the crazy mess of the mvc standings.

Isn't it a little early to be playing for the NIT spot? Barring a match-up against ODU, what's to say it's not possible to make a run in the tourney?
By the way, what is the situation with the return game? When I was perusing their boards, a few people said something about not having to go to Philly next year, but in two years or something to that effect.

As we learned this year with Loyola, there seems to be some flexibility as to when the return game occurs. I believe it can be postponed if both teams agree. I'd imagine it's too early for anyone to have made that decision, so it's probably just a bunch of dumb fans speculating.

I believe that we ppd Loyola because both teams agreed to it.
This year however, all teams will do the "wait a year for the return game" thing. This was because doing it the old way meant you had both a BB Road game and a BB Return Road game in the same season. Now, when you have BB Road games you will have BB Return home games that year. Balances the schedule a bit.

great job at the free throw line yesterday. we would've let a clearly inferior team hang around if we had shot below 50% again.
i saw foty's post over on the mason boards about how this problem can't be addressed during the season. i could not diagree more. i didn't play college basketball either...but i was close enough to my high school's program to know how hard they worked on this area during the season. they had entire practices where they did nothing but shoot...and run their nuts off if they missed.
you just can't let a problem that's costing you games go unfixed. there's no argument any reasonable person can make to the contrary. sure...it'd be easier to fix it over the offseason...but even in the summer...a kid has to have the coach screaming at him in the back of his head about how important free throws are. given that we've never been a good free throw shooting team...that hasn't been happening...and there's no time like the present to make it happen.
