Great job of calling out Penn and the city schools. At some point though we need to just stop playing them. It's hard to bitch about if you keep bowing down to them.

What's everyone's thoughts on the idea that, let's say we stopped playing these games? Do you think we could find suitable, quality replacements? I'd like to think the CAA has gotten to the point where we are now viewed as a quality opponent.
I personally think finding 3-4 replacement games wouldn't be that big of an issue. Granted we're giving up a lot with fitting into the city 'dynamic,' but I really wonder how much that gets us.
Even if you give up the city games, you would still run in to the same problems- scheduling quality opponents with the hope of getting a game in the DAC, which won't happen. It's too small a place, but I won't harp on that again.
If you dump the city opponents, which I can go along with, you're simply making a statement.
I think it would be a big mistake on insisting the Big 5 play at the DAC. Insisting on the games being played at the Palestra makes sense. The attendance last night was 6,656 and the atmosphere was something we would could never match at the DAC. Until we build the Armory (2009-2010?) we have absolutely no leverage.
I wouldn't say we have no leverage. From the sound of it, a very large Drexel contingent made their way to the Palestra, all of who purchased tickets, most of who probably bought programs, food, etc. You can't tell me that Penn didn't pull in some nice change from this game. You think they are going to get that from some other OOC game? Time for Drexel to put an end to this. There is NO reason Penn can't walk up 33rd St. and play at the DAC every other year.

My guess is that Drexel pulls in more proceeds at the Penn games than you think. They may give up the home advantage, but not all the $.
6,656 made for a great atmosphere. I wonder when we play Robert Morris-Howard at the City Classic at the Palestra how many fans will be there? I realize that one ticket buys 2 sessions, but it'll still be a morgue. Those games may as well be played at each other's courts.
I'm hoping someone will find articles with pictures because I really want to see just how dominant the DAC was at the Palestra. We clearly are the much better fans
I wasn't really expecting a turn-out like that I guess, otherwise I surely would've brought my own camera. It would've produced good pictures too (since I was surrounded by an endless mob of blue and gold). Honestly I was a little peeved that the upenn guards moved the dac pack to make room for 8 people who couldnt sit anywhere else in the nearly empty penn side.
ah well
Please someone with pictures of the game/crowd...please...post them. There really is a lack of "media" out there right now.
