I was just reading a blog entry/interview by Steven Goff from last week's WP about DC United's troubles and their more and more likely departure from DC to another city. Seems like not finding a new stadium will be the deal breaker.

I know some of you keep up with the long term plans of the university...and I was curious if anyone new what the plans for George Mason Stadium were? Considering our long tradition of building community partnerships and our recent connection with the professional softball team and the field upgrades (granted a much lesser capacity etc.)...I wonder if a mutually beneficial plan/opportunity could present itself for Mason and DC United?
DC United could get their stadium that seats 17,000+...our soccer team would get a major facility upgrade...and lastly we'd have a field where we could play football with our fellow CAA brethren. Not to mention we'd have another venue for concerts and graduations to make money off of...It'd be a win win depending on the financial structure.
