    Default Football Commitments

The Monarchs picked up 4 new commitments yesterday.

    http://hamptonroads.com/2009/12/qb-a...ommit-monarchs

Dominique Blackman, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound left-handed quarterback from Los Angeles.

Ronnie Cameron (DT) and Deron Mayo (DE), transfers from Hofstra.

Eriq Lewis, a safety from Calvin Coolidge High in Washington, D.C.
Of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

If the incoming QB Blackman is half of the WINNER that DeMarco is, we have ourselves a find.

Plus 295-lb D-lineman are just what our defense needs.

Must be bittersweet for HU - but am gald we were able to find homes for some of their refugees.

Sweet, I was hoping we'd get some lineman from HU or NU.

When I read the Pilot article it said Mayo the DE from Hofstra was 5' 11" 214 pounds!?!

He better be very good because I really don't want another seriously undersized DE who gets pushed off the ball on running plays.

Mayo is very good, don't read too much into his size because he can produce. this past season he had 48 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery. that is a solid season. its a shame you will only have him for one season since he is a rising senior but he should be a good mentor for the younger guys and he is CAA battle-tested.

I know Ben's a professional and his passing is exponentially better, however, a guy throwing 3,700 yards, 337.4 ypg, and 35 touchdowns (of that size) looks pretty awesome. he's definitely a pocket passer.

Nice video!! Those stats are awful gaudy - even for Juco. What I like after watching that highlight reel, is that he looks waayy too big to be an FCS QB. He seems a little slow, but a heck of a strong arm and looks VERY hard to bring down.

My dad is UW alum and thats the college I grew up watching. Even though they haven't made a lot of noise in the recent past - they have a great football tradition. Rich Radford says Blackman is a former high school top 100 prospect. We could have landed a gem here.
