OT - Need Help - what is area like

We might be taking my step son to the Thomas Jefferson Theater this weekend to see Snow White. From what I can tell the closest metro stop is Ballston-MU. It looks to be a 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk from there.

What is the area between the metro and the theater like? How safe is it?

He is a 10 yr old with a high function form of autism so his mother is very very leary in new environments. This might be a deal breaker.

Ballston, is a very, very busy area...lights of stuff going on....Cars, thousands of people...Ballston might be one of the more crowded areas in NOVA.

Arlington is plenty safe. Though I guess technically that stretch is slightly less safe. I certainly wouldn't have a problem wandering around there at night.

With that said, I think the theater is a bit farther from the metro stop than you are estimating. It's about 1.5 miles. Would taking a cab be a problem for the kid? There are plenty of cabs around.

I don't know the theater, but I live in Ballston, and the whole area is safe. Try Metrobus.

I live in Ballston too, as a loyal subject of King Jollay.

The area right around the Ballston Metro station is very safe but it's not quite as good once you get closer to the Theatre you're going to (still not bad though, I'd walk around there by myself at night). It is a bit far to walk, though, I'd recommend taking a cab or the bus.

thanks for the help. I obviously misread the map and it is much further than I thought. So when we leave the hotel instead of going to the closest metro stop we'll just drive to KOB's area and park there. Then drive to theater that night when we return.
