Former Mason assistant Darrell Brooks' CIAA champion Bowie State Bulldogs (16-14) lost to #1 ranked West Liberty (31-1) in the NCAA D-II Atlantic Region 1st round 114-82. Bowie State lost an exhibition game at Mason this season by a score of 76-72.

Former Mason assistant Mike Gillian resigned after 10 seasons as head coach at Longwood. In 2012-13, the Lancers were 8-25 including 4-12 in the school's 1st season in the Big South.
