While I sat on a barstool in a cozy sports bar enjoying beers with buddies and then agonizing over the loss, I thought how in the world could we have lost this game. Then I made my way to the APC to pick up the player in our family who was heartbroken and in a sling (preliminary diagnosis is another off-season of surgery and healing). His little boy went to the emergency room last night with a 103 degree temperature while his dad was trying to get ready for a game. The sudden clarity of it all brought things into perspective.
Some things are just way more important than a one-point loss in any football game.
Why God made us love this game so much I have no idea. But he did!
