Neely update

A friend of mine in Greensboro went to see Neely's opener last night, a 61-60 win. He said he played with a broken hand with a cast on but still had 21 pts, 10+ boards and somewhere between 6-8 assists. The only definite stat was the points because he got it from the table. Did I mention he played like that with a BROKEN hand!? I really like the sound of this kid, especially with the rebounds and assists.

Went for the interception, missed it, came down and then put a dent in the floor with that block. Very nice, thanks for sharing. I love the perseverance.

Neely looks a lot bigger than 6-2 180 in that clip. I wouldn't mind if he showed up around 6-3 200. He looks like he might give us good size and athleticism at the two.

Marsharee's team is now 7-3, and from what I can tell, he's averaging about 20 ppg. He also scored his 1000th point in mid-December.

FYI.
One of my buddies that follow college bb recruiting gave me some bad news this past weekend.

He said the recruiting mags aren't giving Neely high marks.

I think its like everyone on this board knows, once a recruit signs with a midmajor that guys stock goes down and if he signs with a major his stock goes up.

I hope Neely blows away the competition just to prove those recruiting mags wrong.

I think we got a steal. He was all-tourney at the Southern Invitational and the the Bob Gibbons tourney, which are 2 of the top aau tourneys in the spring. Telep from scout.com wrote about him on numerous occasions. He was a 3-star until he mentioned ODU as his leader, and then all of a sudden he wasnt as good anymore. Basketball people in NC absolutely LOVE the kid. Apparently he just started playing guard last year, which is why he wasnt recruited earlier. So we have a raw guard that is scoring over 20 a game that can shoot and handle, is super-fast, unselfish, but has a post player's mentality. I like it. Apparently there are some more clips of him dunking on the fast break, I'll see if I can find and post them.
