    Default Players Overseas (update)

This is slightly old news, but Sean Brooks was let go from the Polynorm Giants (Netherlands) last week. Coincidentally, this was after playing one game against Tim Whitworth's team, the Woon!Aris. In the game writeup Brooks was described as a "mini Shaquile O’Neil" 8) Here's hoping he finds another team to play on soon.

Phil Goss is also with the Giants, and apparently doing very well.

You kinda knew Eric Schmeider would have a good career over-seas, he's pretty big for a point guard so he fits the style of play. Goss & Brooks are both undersized. If things don't work out my work team could use a few able bodies and their home towns are both nearby!

Also, Battle's putting up some OK numbers in Spain... 15ppg, 9.5rpg. And there's your Drexel/Eurobasket news for the day

FOTY's awesome Battle card signature reminded me to check up on our guys across the pond. Brooks is now playing with Tim Whitworth on the Woon!.

Eric Schmieder is back in France, acquired by the JSF Nanterre as a move to "right their ship." And there's your Drexel/Eurobasket news for the day

I actually got the Battle pic from his facebook profile. I don't talk to any of the guys over there, but I suppose I could start to if there's really a lot of interest.

Wow, awesome... I hadn't seen his facebook page. That's pretty cool he has his profile not only completely filled out, but also updated with pictures from Spain.

    Default I like reusing threads

It's about midway through the season, so here are some updates from Europe...

Tim Whitworth, Sean Brooks, and Phil Goss have all left the Dutch leagues. Tim and Sean were replaced by none other than Herman Favors of GSU and Larry Hamm from Towson.

What's cool is Timmy is again playing for the Dragons... of Sundsvall, Sweden.
Now I read good French and mediocre Spanish, but trying to make sense out of Swedish is a royal pain.
However the title of this page says it all: "Overtime = Timmytime" (there's a good pic there too.)
Good to know he's still a clutch player.

Goss is playing in Turkey for the Beykoz Spor... My Turkish is even worse than my Swedish
Their site seems kinda broken, but the main page is a good pic of Phil leading the huddle. (You can tell cause the back of his jersey says "PHIL" )

Brooks went to Germany to play for the ASC Theresianum Mainz
I can't get to their site at the moment... http://www.asc-theresianum-mainz.de

Eric Schmieder is still in France with the JSF Nanterre.

Here's a highlight vid, you can see him grabbing steals and knocking down 3's. (He's in a dark jersey, with the headband.)

Battle is still with the Palma Aqua Magica.
He's already been named game MVP twice this season.

FYI, I was told Battle and Schmieder will be at the Temple game before Christmas. Not sure if any of the others will be there as well. It was also good to see Sanchez in the stands at Nova.

And on the local front, I went to the Knicks game last night and even though they are TERRIBLE and desperately need someone to show some hustle Malik didn't step on the court once. Isaiah Thomas is a horrible coach and the players are almost as bad. He's still got game and deserves a better situation than the debacle at MSG.

Is Malik back in uniform? I know he had some injury issues earlier in the season. Interesting to see his name pop up on the espn.com site yesterday when they were discussing a possible Sixers/Knicks trade in the Iverson fiasco.
I dream for the day when a chicken can cross the road and not be questioned about its motives for doing so.
