Maybe not rivalries as much as teams we've played for the past xx years. UNCW would be the only one in the south.

I know many of you guys are not as big into it as I am but my other issue is that most of the student population outside of VA is from the Northeast. When I was in school, I knew very few from south of Virginia. It seems like we would want to be more aligned with where our student population resides.

Being a bit older than you are I will wager, I prefer the South line-up. Davidson and Furman were both good rivalries for W&M prior to the CAA (football and bball). I think Charleston will be an immediate rival of interest.

When I look to the north, only Delaware is of huge interest.

I understand your thought on the student base origins though looking ahead in the future, I think W&M has more to gain by stretching interest south. Face it, the Carolinas offer a lot more potential upside for good student candidates and places where our alumni may settle as oppossed to Philly and NJ.

Someone else posted this somewhere, but I would like to reiterate; where did URI get the money to move back up to 63 scholarship and go back to mid Atlantic travel?

I realize that SBU and Albany will mitigate travel costs somewhat (not that much though), but there will still be Va.
If URI comes back, it tells me that there is no football coming to the CAA from South of Va.

However, I won't believe URI is back until the announcement is made. To me it makes no sense.

I spent some time this weekend with a couple of the URI football coaches as are our children are friends and they confirmed Rhody is staying in the CAA, that the CAA is paying the fee that Rhody owes to the NEC and an announcement will be coming in the coming weeks. The fact that the NEC was losing one of its most desirable programs (Albany) didn't make URI feel good about moving there as it was one of only two public members.

    I guess so.
Not 5 minutes ago Yeager was quoted on local radio as stating that he had today asked URI to reconsider. I don't think he would have made that statement if he didn't already know the answer.

There is some money in Rhody. Their basketball arena is one of the nicest college venue that I have seen anywhere. The Constant Center is top shelf all the way, but URI's looked nicer, no disrespect ment. The person who founded CVS, or such type drug store is a Rhody grad, and donates big bucks, arena is named after him. They need to put some money into their football facility, as it is much worse than Zable.

I am glad URI is staying since it is close to Newport and a whoe bunch of Tribe fans had a blast up there last year.

Yeager said an invitation has been reissued to Rhode Island to rejoin the CAA, given today's news - would put conference at 11 schools
Andrew Santillo on Twitter at the UAlbany press conference.
