Albany would know more about URI's stance since they are currently in the NEC - where URI is supposed to be moving to. I wonder if they've heard anything about URI having second thoughts...

Did I miss something with URI? Did they suddenly become flush with cash? Did Rhode Island suddenly become less of a hell hole and get some money to put into the university? The main reason for URI leaving was not just travel cost, but was scholarship and facility costs so they could COMPETE. That problem is still there. I have serious doubts they'll be returning.

Looks like they are serious about growing their program:

Stony Brook has also chosen to compete with the best of the best at the Football Bowl Subdivision level (FBS). Since reaching the maximum allotment of scholarships of 63 in 2010, the Seawolves have competed against the University of South Florida, University of Texas at El Paso and the University at Buffalo. Stony Brook will take on Syracuse University and the United States Military Academy in 2012 and is contracted to face Boston College, the University of Cincinnati and the University at Buffalo in future seasons.

True...but when you have 2 area programs move up to your level right when you are about to downgrade, money sometimes is found.

A good many of these glowing descriptions of what ya'll HOPE these two grow into sound like nothing more than "lipstick on a pig." Not impressed with the additions until we pick up something with true history and closer to VA. If we can't/won't get such a school as some of you seem to KNOW, then I hope we are moving up real soon. If the forces Liberty to move up - great. I believe that will put more pressure on JMu to move. Being the Fifth FBS school in the state will not get us very far. That much I am 100% certain.

NO. just working. Some of you clearly don't.
Who? - App and/or Ga Southern. Simple as that. Both are southern IAA powers with loads of history and success, similar to us in size,make-up, etc, and public schools.

Even the rumors of a bunch of small southern privates do nothing for me, and honestly do nothing for JMU or the publics in the league. If CAA leadership can't convince either of these two to come on in - particularly given the rumors of near Southern collapse, then I see this as a big fail. You will obviously disagree along with other JMU admin BFF's. So be it.

actually the JMU admin have failed in many dealings, but will give them credit in other things. But conference realignment is not a strength of JMU it seems.
