The dang mythical creature has feathers......
Ugh. Not again.
On a more serious note, IF Anthony has left the program (hopefully, temporarily) I hope he is able to rejoin eventually. As of right now, we only have seven receivers on the roster - Dalton Boyd is also no longer on the roster (he may have left before spring break) - and only six of those players have game experience. None of the other walk on receivers we grabbed last fall appear to have stuck with the program.
SF would be the best person to analyze the impact. Right now, we have one proven receiver, Ryan Moody. We have one extremely gifted sophomore, Tre McBride. Obviously, the best scenario here would be for CJ Thomas to finally have a breakout year. I'm not sure if Joey Brady is considered a receiver or more of a special teams specialist. Sean Ballard showed promise last fall camp, and Jake Fetters has great size.
No idea if they will have any effect in the team, but twitters of walk on WRs Flynn Heald & Chris Garner seem excited, working hard, and determined to make an impact. I think both could be diamonds in the rough.
Joey Brady is most definitely a wide receiver, as well as a special teams regular. Leaves the depth a bit thin, but I don't know how high Anthony had climbed on the depth chart. If a freshman is going to contribute it would likely be Kevin Hart, who looks to be pretty mature physically, and played a variety of positions in high school. With Frank Tamakloe coming in, I suppose Ivan Tagoe could go at WR in a pinch. He was all-state at the position in Maryland. My guess is that Zack Fetters gets in the mix.
Hopefully Ryan Moody will be able to have a year with no injuries . When healthy he has shown to ability to be a real playmaker and a long threat, which could make any QB look better. I am really pulling for him to come back and have a good year after all he has been through .
