    Default RIP Dr.Moss!

    Hey,

I just wanted to inform everyone of the passing of the Pep Band's Director, Dr. Myron "Mike" Moss. He passed away suddenly yesterday from a heart attack. It's been going around facebook, but I know everyone isn't on there, so I figured I would let you know here too. He was a great guy and a great band director. He will be missed. Keep the Band and the Drexel community in your thoughts and prayers.

I am so very sorry to hear this. I've been around Drexel bball a long time, so I'm rather jaded, but I truly enjoyed listening to and watching the band under his direction. I made it a point to tell him how much I enjoyed it, and said hello whenever I had the chance.

If you happen to have an address for his family that you felt comfortable in sharing, I'd appreciate it.

This really came as a shocker. He was such a great dude. Especially in a conference where you have a band led by a pimp, and another by a guy that rips his shirt off, it was nice to see Dr. Moss just be genuine and simply want to play good music rather than be the center of attention.

I had the privilege of filling in on drums for a game once, and every time I talked to Dr. Moss after that he kept on referring to me as a member of the band, which was really cool. He will really be missed.

I dont have an address and the on campus memorial hasn't been planned yet as far as I know. The head of the music department said it is likely to be in the beginning of fall term. I'll keep everyone posted.

And here is an article from the Triangle: http://thetriangle.org/2012/07/06/ca...usic-director/

I graduated the year before Dr. Moss took full reign over the bands, so I did not have the pleasure of really getting to know him. As others have said, his enthusiasm during basketball games could not be questioned, and he did it without stripping off his clothes or dancing around like a pimp.
