Default Another Honor for Olivia Galati

LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman and Olivia Galati received the most votes in twin polls conducted by PremierPlayer.com:

I've lost track of how many awards Galati has received this year. She has to be consider one of the top five softball players in the country for 2012-13.
    Charles Jenkins:
Drafted by the Golden State Warriors, June 2011
    Hofstra's career scoring leader ... 2,513 points
    Haggerty Award winner 2009, 2010 & 2011
2010-11 CAA Preseason POY; CAA POY; SI, CBS & SN AA; & AP HM AA
2009-10 CAA Preseason Co-POY, CAA POY, & AP HM AA
    2008-09 CAA First Team
    2007-08 CAA ROY

Jojo that is the reason I would like her # to be retired during senior day next year. She needs only a few wins to get the all-time victory Hofstra record then she will own every pitching record in Hofstra history.

I disagree with the practice of retiring a number for a person that's still playing. It maybe with different with Jenkins because they didn't know when they'd be able to get him back in the building. Unfortunately for Olivia (and all softball players), the end of their college career is basically the end before the real world hits.

AJ that is a weak excuse. What, Jenkins was never going to come back? Olivia did more for softball than Jenkins did for basketball. Is not even close. This is no knock on Charles but more a testiment to what Olivia has done for the softball program. While they are at it the softball stadium on the same day should be named for Bill Edwards.

Yea the ability to get someone back in the buidling shouldnt be a deciding factor in when to retire their number. A precedent has been set. And olivia and probably shante evans deserve it next. both the best in their sports history.

I agree it was a weak excuse. I still don't think it should have been done to begin with. I think Charles should have waited too. I'm not saying they don't deserve it, but I just don't like it being done while the player is still playing.

    Hayes seemed obsessed with Jenkins.

Hofstra at the time needed a bit of a buzz for their athletics. Why not take advantage of Hofstras all-time leading scorer to fill your building by retiring his # and giving out t-shirts with his number on them. Still as HH2007 said, Hofstra has set a presedent by retiring numbers.
