Win all the games we can, and during the tournies the announcers can talk about how the regular season champs not playing. While every other conference let's departing teams play.

I think we buy rings for all the regular season champs at ODU, I'll kick in for that.

Also don't even compare how Richmond left to ODU, but the story is do it anyway you want. Cause it doesn't matter if you're up front or sneaking out the back-door.

We'll do it with class and by winning games. We're heading in the right direction.

I agree 100%! The rules are there for everyone and everyone must follow them. No favoritism should be shown.
EverRespect was quoted as saying, "Face it, VCU is a better team and the scary thing is they are all freshman and sophomores other than Burgess. It may be a long time before we beat them again."

I love it. We are a part of writing the by-laws we now despise and we then leave the conference and complain about the rules. We then try to park 4 of our sports on their door-step on the way out because we had no plan for these kids. Really?

Safe to say Yeager won't be making any trips to Norfolk this year? And it's nice of them to "allow" us to still be a part of their tv package this season so that they can still use our brand to promote their crappy league.

Brad, are we still in your head? You still troll the ODU boards, begging for attention. Move along, moron.

Anyone actually familiar with the CAA bylaws is complaining not about the rules; but with the decision.

    4.06B establishes foundation for 4.06E.
4.06B: Upon the notice of withdrawal, the remaining Association members retain the right to determine the effective date of the institution’s membership withdrawal and the rights and privileges of membership that will be extended prior to the effective date of the institution’s withdrawal. All membership changes become effective on June 30. [Adopted: June 28, 2000]

4.06.E: “Upon notice of an institution’s intent to withdraw, the institution’s teams become ineligible on a date determined by the remaining members to compete for Association team championships.”[Adopted: June 28, 2000]

First of all, I personally don't care whether we play in the CAAT or not.
That said, all of this rhetoric about "ODU knew the rules" and "ODU voted for the rule" as to make the current outcome inevitable, is pure nonsense.

The rule (4.06E) gives the Presidents unrestricted authority to determine the final eligibility date with respect to championship participation.

If the member schools in 2000 had intended to always eliminate eligibility, then the rule would have read something like "Upon announcing their intent to leave the Association, championship eligibility will be revoked immediately" or "Upon announcing their intent to leave the Association, championship eligibility will end 30 days from the date of the official announcement"

Instead, they drafted the rules such that each case could be evaluated individually.
ODU had no reason to believe that, since it was "straight up" with the CAA (unlike UofR in 2000 and VCU in 2012)during the process, there would not be a favorable ruling. Indeed, the Athletic Directors voted to allow ODU to be eligible for the football title.

The Presidents used their authority and voted on a date that precludes ODU from the CAAT and the football AQ.

    OK
But; to say ODU knew that this would be the outcome, and that they voted in 2000 to mandate this outcome is factually incorrect and ludicrous.

Listen, I have no problem with ODU wanting to up-grade its football program. You felt you could not do that effectively in the CAA. Fair enough. I wish you luck.

VCU on the other hand seemingly has a an institutional history of chasing that elusive brass ring in Basketball, having been to....let's see the: 1.Sunbelt, 2. The Metro Conference, 3.the CAA and 4. now the A-10 seeking the basketball "Big Time". Nuff' said. They've lost Jeff Capel and Alan Grant to major BCS schools in recent years. How long do you think Shaka Smart will stay at that city school without a campus or alumni support, assuming he has some success....not very long , I predict.

And how do we wish to be remembered by our fellow C.A.A. students, fans, alumni, business colleagues, and hiring managers?

How many Monarchs will likely sit in front of a hiring manager who went to Rice or Tulane vs. one who graduated from W&M, Drexel, NU, or JMU, to name but a few likely scenarios?

Really, how do you wish to be perceived when your resume lands on the desk of a hiring manager?

    Stay classy, Monarchs
