Three Tribe Men's Swimmers Qualify for 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials

In addition to incoming freshman Will Manion (100m backstroke), rising sophomore Sidney Glass (100m backstroke) and junior Andrew Strait (200m individual medley and 100m breaststroke), both, qualified yesterday for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials starting June 25th in Omaha.

This is absolutely stunning!

That W&M, a non-power in collegiate swimming with no athletic scholarships for swimmers, has qualified three men for the US Olympic Trials, goes beyond credulity.

Congratulations to these three athletes...and all three are at W&M next year (a soph, a junior and an incoming freshman. And congrats to the Tribe coaches, who must be coaching savants!!!

I'll tell you...you can't say enough about it.

Correction: Glass is actually a rising senior, and Strait qualified, also, for the 200m breaststroke.

Congrats, also, to 2012 Tribe graduate Hailey Hewitt who qualified for the women's 200m backstroke.

~250,000 in the U.S. Swimming program and only ~1250, or 1/2 %, qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials. Great that there will be four Tribe athletes there to experience that together...Lifetime dream for these kids!!
