Interesting that ODU " will not be eligable for The CAAs automatic football bid".
I wonder how much support the conference will give them for an at large bid and seeding ? We know all to well how political this can be....

"Stay thirsty my friends"
I agree with Rocco. If W&M pulled that off, in what most of us consider the middle of a rebuild, it would be monumental. Fans of other teams would belittle it, but for the tribe to win out against the odds would be an achievement to be proud of.
Now, if only this could have happened 2 years ago for that 2010 team.

I'd love to hear something firm on new conferences members...
If you read the Brian Mull site, apparently the delay in announcing the eligibility decision was because the football presidents had to meet after the hoops presidents met to determine football eligibility.
I would presume that the football presidents just met to discuss eligibility, and I would hope that they then discussed expansion.
This hoops conference / football conference dynamic may be the cause of some of the delay as they apparently don't meet during the same week, let alone the same day, let alone the same meeting.
While we all knew that Yeager got his marching orders last week, that apparently was only for the hoops side.
Finally, if this "delay" results in a lot of SoCon rumors that forces App. St. to come to the CAA...
I have no sympathy for these schools...they knew what the rules were before they decided to leave.
They now moan and groan about the poor players; if they were so concerned about the players they wouldn't have left in the first place as they knew full well the rules.
The truth and I agree with you 100%. While I disagree with the rule, both teams were aware of it thereby, have only their leadership to blame. None of us would sign a contract for a bank loan if the bank mandated that we pay some ridiculous fee in the event we paid the balance early.
A concise post from the ODU board.
"I love it. We are a part of writing the by-laws we now despise and we then leave the conference and complain about the rules. We then try to park 4 of our sports on their door-step on the way out because we had no plan for these kids. Really?"
I do have a little sympathy for ODU for one reason, they are going to I-A in football, so they had to leave the CAA. VCU left because they said that the CAA wasn't good enough for them in basketball. I think the CAA should let ODU keep its 4 orphan sports in the CAA, but I agree with the basketball team not being able to get the automatic bid. I lived through this when Penn State left the A-10 for the Big 10. The A-10 booted them out and Penn State had to play a year as an independent. What a mess of a schedule they had that year. A good team with no way to earn a tournament bid.
