I think the greater NYC metro area is ripe for quality football at a reasonable price. Just as Minor league baseball and the NHL in Florida have found success, there's room college football to do well in the Big Apple.

Part of the reason why going after schools in major metro areas made little sense when the AE teams joined. Getting into those markets doesn't mean anything most of the time because the major urban centers tend to be dominated by pro sports and the colleges are left to pick up the crumbs.
I disagree. Attendance in the urban markets is small compared to attendance at schools in small college towns. But the TV and media exposure is still there and it's big. While many in the CAA bash Drexel for their poor attendance, I'm certain that Drexel's presence in the CAA is the reason why so many CAA games are being televised in Philadelphia. Same holds/held true with GSU in Atlanta, Hofstra in NY, and NU in Boston. If Drexel is not in the CAA, those CAA games on Comcast Network and Comcast SportsNet are likely replaced with games from another league. With 2 teams in the NYC market, we're more likely to get more CAA games broadcast on the NYC RSN's, which is a big deal for the CAA.

With the Big South faltering, Fordham would most likely want in to the CAA, being they are ineligible to be considered as Patriot champ when they moved to start offering up to 60 football scholarships.
The rest of the Patriot League recently voted to gradually add football scholarships. Fordham will keep their football team where it is for a long long time.

You may be right, they may be happy now.

But still it's a bit odd.

It doesn't make sense that Fordham would make themselves ineligible for the Patriot conference championship if they were planning on staying in the Patriot.

It seems Fordham changed their policy on football scholarships 1st and the Patriot 2nd.

From what I read, Georgetown is not on board with 60 scholarships. Maybe the want to move their program somewhere else.

The CAA cannot ignore UNH, Maine, Hofstra, UD and Drexel...we need another northern team or two. I'd like to see the CAA pick-up another VA team (NSU/Hampton/VMI) and another team from NC. Stay away from Liberty (too FBS trigger-happy) or anything south of NC.

So forget College of Charleston???? You've got to be kidding me. They are better than any school you mentioned above. We are looking to strengthen what will be left of the CAA. Not drag it down deeper.

This is a stupid strategy and won't happen. Yeager has already notified the SoCon Commissioner about our potential raid of their conference. We're adding at least 1 southern school and probably 2. Add Stony Brook and then we're finally talking north-south divisions, 6 in each. Perfect.

Yeager can attempt to Raid, but Davidson and C of C will not join our beloved CAA.
