Default Rose Comments about the CAA on local Radio

    "I hope GMU/VCU/ODU don't leave the CAA"

This may mean nothing but comments like this scare the hell out of me...are we sitting around hoping others are not looking out for themselves?

That's certainly a bold, reassuring statement.

Probably so he doesn't have to pull the trigger one way or the other at the end of his time in office. I don't blame him for that.

this. He's weeks away from stepping down. This conference turmoil is the last thing he needs.

Lin has almost always been non-commital in his statements. It's just his personality.

I kind of took the statement another way. I think JMU wants to make a move, but wants to move at our own pace. If the other schools move, it may cause JMU to make an action faster than what we may be ready for.
I think a move will happen, but I think reasonably in a year it'll happen. If they move, that transition could be forced, and JMU doesn't want that. If so, I don't blame them.

Honest question---what will be difference in one year? Three years? The associated costs of a move will still be the same, correct? What makes another 12 months better for JMU?

Well, I think there probably has to be a lot of preparation to make this happen. A school can't just flip a switch and say, oh yea we're FBS now in a new conference. There's the financial impact- probably a committment towards athletics from the conference which may include a higher spending on sports.
The biggie is the scholarships. Expanding football scholarships means either taking away sports or adding. What sports we add, finances, hiring, recruiting are just the tip of the iceberg.
I don't think it's as easy as we'd like it to be. And I'm sure all of these things and a million more need to be considered. Shortening the time frame wouldn't help things and could lead to some mistakes that could cost us in the long run.
