This is a good summary. If GMU, VCU, and ODU leave, we have no purpose in the CAA. The benefit of the CAA is that it is a basketball power and we are trying to right the ship in our basketball program Being in the CAA with the Power VA 3 gives us a higher ceiling to achieve the excellence we once had. Without them, the northern schools will be in control of the future of the CAA and the basketball draw the CAA had over the SoCon will be no more. If we can get into the SoCon at this point, that is likely something we need to do. Unless the SoCon schools like Davidson and CoC are interested in rebuilding the CAA and doing what can be done to maintain the mid major basketball power status it has obtained, the SoCon is where we need to be.

Student fees would be a part of sustaining football, but you first have to come up with $10-13 million just to get it off the ground. That would mean buy-in from corporations and growing the Seahawk Club by a large number.

Do you like the choice he just made with regards to the womens basketball coach? He will regret it is what I think and why string a guy along like that then hire a D-2 coach to come to the CAA?He screwed up with this and as for what he has done other than that-I have no idea unless you count the Trask upgrade and I don't.I think the jury is out on him as top guy and Buzz as headcoach-put up or shut up time.He better have a plan for UNCW moving to another conference.

Given our post season ban this coming year, now would be the time for us to move. announcing a move the next year and killing two postseasons would only add to the mound of problems.

I have been against the SoCon the entire time, but if the top three leave and no one we end up with 1 school within 8 hours of us, might as well leave since the remainder doesn't look too much better than the Big South.

Agreed. I don't like the odds of us landing any schools close to us that improve the CAA. Davidson might like winning their conference every year and College of Charleston might feel they would like to stay in the upper tier as well. Unless one of those two jump at a CAA invite, not looking good. App St. will most likely hunt down a conference with FBS aspirations, and they could still be the CAA. We'll see. Either way, Bass needs to start looking at options.

Start looking at options? Dear God. I hope he's smarter than that and sees the writing on the wall. As soon as VCU, GMU and/or ODU make an announcement I expect to start hearing official reports of UNCW being shopped to both the SoCon and the Big South.

What was wrong with this hire? Just because Garrity was the preferred choice of the players and a candidate for the position doesn't mean you hire him automatically. A stronger candidate, in Bass's mind, came along, one who has had a lot of success at her last stop. I don't see a problem with it.

The problem I see right off the bat is the players know her and don't like her and one of them played for her.She is making a huge jump from D-2 to the CAA and I would like to see a coach with D-1 experience at a lower lever conference.Time will tell but she comes in with a big mouth and a bad attitude which is her MO and I think she fails bigtime.Jimmy Garrity most likely leaves is my guess after getting worked by Bass.I am not a huge fan of the women's team but this is a mistake.

Whoa trigger. Let me remind you. You're not a fan of any UNCW team. One kid knows her from playing for her when she was 10 years old. And she has D1 experience. She was at UNCA for six years, the last two as associate head coach. Eddie Beidenbach made the call to Bass and highly recommended her. I think he has seen her in action a bit more than you.

It's not about her as much as it is loyalty to Garrity. I really like Jimmy G, but it doesn't mean he was the best fit for this team. Haven't we already made that mistake before?

How was it UNCW made that mistake before? He has been here a long time and knows the CAA,had the players endorsement and is a solid man that Bass should know better than he does.I like Eddie but his call had nothing to do with a D-2 coach getting the job.I guess Bass knows what he is doing but don't forget his wife is also a coach here and that could also be a problem for him.Who knows-it has a bad smell.I know Eddie well enough to know that he never watches women's basketball-ever.
