Seems as though most CofC fans are on board for a move, Joe Hull is their AD:

Move to the CAA discussed at length by Joe Hull. Sounds like just about everyone concerned is for the move. He said final decision may be a few months away but I believe will be sooner than that. Major hold up right now is the board of trustees and they are meeting early this coming month to discuss and possibly vote on the move.

You see on that thread that ESPN is moving ALL SoCon games to ESPN3? Ouch.

I still don't know if the NBCSN deal for the CAA is that much of an enticement, but it's gotta be better looking than online-only games.

Yeah did see that. Also saw that their games were on PBS stations, but that's done now.

The Patriot League acquired two outstanding urban private schools Boston University & Loyola. Both are mid-major private urban schools with lacrosse & men's basketball.

The Patriot League is dramatically improving while the CAA is self-destructing...

How are they improving exactly? Strictly from a sports perspective that is.
    Phila. Titles: Phillies 1980, 2008; Athletics 1910,1911,1913,1929,1930; Eagles 1948,1949,1960; Flyers 1974,1975; Sixers 1967,1983; Warriors 1956

The Patriot League is creating an outstanding private school mid-major conference that is located from Baltimore to Boston. Football doesn't dictate the future of the Patriot League... Northeastern and Drexel should be the next ideal candidates for admission if Zilmer was performing his job properly.

How does Drexel have anything in common with UNC Wilmington, College of Charleston, or Davidson? The CAA is a sinking ship and Drexel will be dead at the bottom of the Schuylkill river.

The Patriot League and A10 are the future of mid-major college athletics in the northeast, but we don't have the financial resources to build an adequate basketball venue for A10 admission.

Well, Loyola did win the national lacrosse title this year. I did not know this off the top of my head but I suppose a small percentage of casual sports fans probably do.

Look, good on the Patriot League for picking up Boston U. and Loyola. I think BU would have been a solid add to the CAA, but that's mostly because the pickings are extraordinarily slim among Northeast universities and I don't want to see the CAA add a bunch of Elons and Woffords. Loyola is a great school but they bring nothing to table in basketball, which is where the vast majority of mid-majors make their money. (Incidentally, this means the Patriot is dividing its measly NCAA tourney money by 10 instead of 8.)

I suppose the two additions make the Patriot better. But it's small degrees. Like, they go from mildly irrelevant to slightly less irrelevant? I dunno. I don't see how it makes the Patriot "dramatically" better. They're still a one-bid, 14-seed-type league. I think the CAA harbors greater ambition than that.

Agreed. SoCon additions will be the beginning of the end.

Don't forget America East for the Northeast publics.
