    Default Men's Lacrosse @ UMass - 4/21, 5 PM

Technically, this game is at a neutral site (Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.), but it's only two hours from Amherst. UMass and Loyola, both undefeated, share first place in this week's USILA Coaches Poll:

Great to see two "non-traditional" teams atop the men's lacrosse standings. That said, we all know how difficult it is to go undefeated in any sport. Wouldn't it be great if we upset the Minutemen this week and restore some luster to our season? Our win vs. UMass in Hartford last year (another "neutral" site -- let's save those for OOC games) was the highlight of our season. Just wish this week's game was on TV somewhere.

A great effort but yet another heartbreaker. Has been the story of the season with five one-goal losses. Unfortunately with Penn State's win over Delaware tonight season is just about over. Only hope of making the CAA Tourney now is to beat Penn State and have St. Joseph's upset Towson (the latter being highly unlikely). Not making the NCAA Tourney is bad enough but to not even make the CAA Tourney is flat out unacceptable! Let's hope there is a major turnaround next season.

This season has been a 'what if"season. Should have never come down to this. Well at least we have baseball and softball this year. The womens team at least made the tourney but I think that Towson and JMU too tough for us this year.

Even though it is very unlikely Towson will lose to St. Joseph's, I am glad at least Hofstra will at least take the field at noon against Penn State with a remote chance of having their season extended. It is hard to remember the last time Hofstra men's men's lacrosse played a meaningless game (probably have to go back to the early 90's). Even the 2004 team that was 4-9 made the CAA Tourney. At least that streak will continue, thanks to the noon start time Saturday.

Unacceptable is right. Can't believe more of you aren't upset. And I don't want to hear the youth excuse either.

We had too many bad losses and 4th quarter colapses. It was Zack Pall you kept us in the game winning 8 of 11 faceoffs. Got killed on turnovers 14-7 and ground balls.

Yeah, I was there for it, and I haven't seen that many bad turnovers in a college game in a long time. Gvozden also gave up a terrible rebound/ had his pocket picked right in front of his cage that lead to a terrible late goal. Easy pass intercepted on a late clear, and just flat out missed opportunities right in the middle of the attacking zone, especially in the fourth quarter, that cost them. I'm upset that they will miss the CAA playoffs, but I wasn't upset at this game.

The game also featured one of the dirtiest head shots I've seen, when Anthony Bisacrdi of UMass almost decapitated I believe Steve Romano of Hofstra (it was tough to tell, because his helmet came flying off and his jersey was taken off as well, but I don't remember seeing him the rest of the game). Huge extra man opportunity for Hofstra was negated when someone (it was credited to Mike DiNapoli, but I believe it was a player on the sidelines who wasn't dressed for the game) ran their mouth from the bench and was flagged for it. That gave UMass possession as well as bringing it to even strength, and Hofstra didn't touch the ball for about 4 more minutes. Totally selfish. Naturally lead to a UMass goal as well.
