2012-13 Schedule

This might be the most interesting OOC schedule for the entire CAA in a while. You have teams like Towson/UNCW/Hofstra/GSU who you just hope can stay around .500 through December, and hopefully 2 of those 4 do. Then you have teams like JMU/ODU/W&M/Northeastern who are wild cards and could have a great OOC schedule, or could struggle. Then there's us, Mason and Sucks who will likely be 1-2-3 in the CAA, and we'll have to put up a gaudy record, while Mason and Sucks can steal some good name wins.

I can honestly say, this is the first time I'm rooting for the rest of the CAA to do really well OOC, except for maybe ODU. I hope they get "Drexeled" this year, and get left on the wrong side of the bubble.

SAINT MARY’S

Toughest: DIRECTV Classic (Nov. 22-25 in Anaheim, Calif.), at Northern Iowa (Dec. 22)
Next-toughest: at Utah State (Nov. 15), Harvard (Dec. 31)
The rest: Sonoma State (Nov. 10), Eastern Washington (Nov. 18), Cal Poly (Dec. 1), at Drake (Dec. 5), Jackson State (Dec. 11), Pacific (Dec. 19), Rhode Island (Dec. 27), Yale (Dec. 30)
Toughness scale (1-10): 5 -- SMC's nonconference path certainly contrasts the one taken by BYU and Gonzaga. Those two schools have slotted multiple contenders. The toughest matchup on Saint Mary’s plate is its home game versus now-depleted Harvard. The tourney in Anaheim is lukewarm this season, although the opener with Drexel is very intriguing. But it’s not like Jackson State and Sonoma State will do much for the Gaels’ résumé.

So that's a Div 2 school, 5 sub 200 rpi teams (with one being a sub 300 in Jackson St.) and another, Pacific (290), that they could end up playing twice because of the Anaheim (guess it's DIRECTV now) Classic.

No one on our schedule finished with a sub 200 rpi last year, actually besides Rider (199), no one was sub 114. There may not be any historically sexy names (thanks Jim), but it is a definite improvement over last year.

I realize that things change year-to-year and the reviews were done by different people, but seriously, how are we a 3 and they are a 5.

I wish tennessee st were on a weekend so I could have made it. It appears this season will be a richmond appearance and thats it, its going to be brutal

I was thinking, the fact that Davidson chose to turn down the CAA is good for us at least in regards to the return game next year, and not having one of those awkward Butler-Xavier situations. Who knows, maybe we can keep the OOC matchup going and get a solid OOC game from them beyond just next year. Obviously would have liked the name recognition coming in, but I'll take them over most of the other teams that would give us true home and homes.

I might come to Davidson and possibly Illinois St. Probably will do Princeton on the road too. With how much this conference blows, I have almost no interest in those actual games this year.
