UNCW heads to Richmond to face VCU for three games.

VCU will be without suspended players Blake Hauser and Kyle Pelchy for all three games of the series, and Brent Mikionis will be missing out on Friday and Saturday's games thanks to their participation in the brawl with Hofstra last weekend (Head Coach Paul Keyes and Ryan Farrar have already served their suspensions).

Hawks win 9-6! VCU just doesn't give up!! Vaccaro and Riordan are absolutely terrific together. It sure sounds like Tom, he really knows baseball and they really complement each other. The Hawks are playing well. We were lucky that we didn't have to deal with Hauser out of the pen.

4-4 in the bottom of the 11th inning. Nice comeback in the 9th for the Hawks down 4-2 but we've missed a couple opportunities to put the Rams away in extras. No telling how this one will end.

EDIT: Now 4-4 in the 12th.

VCU wins in the bottom of the 12th on a throwing error. We blew this one and need to quit bunting runners over on the road (every time). This one hurts because we were on a roll. There were more UNCW fans on the road than VCU the way it sounded. Hawks fall to 7-2 in CAA play. Both losses by 1 run.

Hawks take 2 of 3 on the road with a solid 4-0 pitching performance by Ramsey and the pen. Awesome job fellas, winners of 9 of the last 11 and 7-2 in CAA play.

Next up, a midweek game @ Elon (14-11, # 36 RPI) on Tuesday, then a home series with ODU.
