Look forward to future games with Delaware, but at least be realistic.
Giles, ODU got in because they had 7+ D1 wins. Delaware didn't because we didn't have 7 D1 wins. That's reality, direct from the mouth of the selection committee.

Of course we'll be back. UD fans don't need your comfort of your smack talk doses of 'reality'. The heaping platter of crow with UD's name on it, that is deservedly earned through our play and moronic scheduling, really isn't even an ODU fan's right to deliver.

If you beat Campbell instead of losing to Navy, you don't get in over ODU. Your competition for getting in was with JMU. Delaware didn't get in due to being 5-3 in the conference and not being as good as JMU. As I said, beat UMass or RI and Delaware would have gotten in....over JMU.

I guessing coming over here peacefully was out of the question, but you somehow think ODU got in because of it's non conference schedule instead of them finishing 2nd in the CAA. You seem to need a bit of a reality check.

Seriously, ODU had more CAA wins than Delaware. How the hell do you think a non conference win or loss was the deciding factor?

What about the non conference schedule outside of Navy?
Give ODU a loss to navy and Delaware a win over Hampton and ODu still gets in over Delaware.

Who said anything about UD getting in over ODU?

Both UD & JMU were 5-3 in conference Giles, and the two teams didn't play each other - so that's actually called a tie. The reason JMU and unranked EKU for that matter (who most believe was actually the last team to get in) got in, and UD didn't was because we didn't have 7 Division 1 wins. --This directly from the mouth of Jim O'Day of the selection committee. He made no comment about UD's in conference record, or out of conference record, just that we didn't have 7 Division 1 wins. It's not even an argument, it's a fact, and is further supported by the language used in the selection committee's bylaws that strongly encourages 7 D1 wins for playoff entrants.

There are a number of ways UD could have improved their profile for the committee to achieve those 7 wins, here are a few:
    1) UD could have played a D1AA program like Campbell or GaState instead of West Chester
    2) UD could have played a D1AA program like Campbell or GaState instead of playing Navy
    3) UD could have played both Campbell and GaState instead of playing West Chester and Navy
    4) UD could have beaten UMass, URI, and lost to West Chester and Navy

The easiest way to have controlled that outcome would have been to sensibly only schedule games where a positive outcome could have actually bolstered the resume. West Chester doesn't do that, yet inexplicably it seems that they'll continue to remain on UD's schedule through the end of the contract in 2012.

Hopefully this all makes sense to you now.

There's an appropriate stopping point for the thread you resurrected.
