    Default Drexel in 40 Years...

Saw this posted on Facebook by a friend... The site itself (being a wordpress site that isn't fully developed) leaves questions about its validity, but the depth and scope of the actual content make it seem legit. Depending on if it's real or not, it's either a very encouraging look at what campus might look like in 40 years, or it's a bunch of good ideas that hopefully the University is considering.

Not a ton on the Armory other than that they still want to figure out what to do with it. In my opinion, the coolest feature is the development of JFK between 30th Street and the Armory, as well as the development of 34th and Lancaster.

Firestone would be cooler as a dance club. Roll up those garage doors and rave on.

Lebow doesn't have enough money to build a new campus, eventually Drexel will need to find other major donors.

I think the sketchup of JFK between the Armory and 30th St. is pretty cool, especially considering you're working with a fairly blank slate there.

Also, a quick Google of the firms mentioned on the slides indicates this is probably real. Looks like a proposal, not sure if it's a ratified Master Plan, as it lacks a lot of details.

The slides show that they have been developed by Goody Clancy, who have been confirmed to be working on the new master plan in The Triangle. It's a lot of information to absorb but is very exciting if it all comes to fruition and it's nice to see that the University and Goody Clancy are opening the process up for discussion before finalizing and releasing the final plan in December. Seems the first area that will be addressed is JFK and Market between 30th and 32nd, where I really hope they will decide to put a new arena on Market, although reading through the site it sounds like the Armory could still be a candidate when they figure out what to do with it.

Yeah. I still agree that's the best location for a basketball arena because a) it would be a building with great character, b) it's already in the athletic area of campus, and c) I can't think of anything that would use that ginormous space as effectively.
