    Re: Expansion News

Adding Stony Brook and Albany should be priority because they care about football. The CAA needs to become more football focused.

You have big schools like Delaware, Madison and Towson with...

    Re: CAA Expansion post Davidson

You forgot that Towson was as good as Madison last year and returns the whole team plus the Vermont transfer. I actually think they will be better than Mason/Madison in 2013-2014.

    Re: Expansion News

I see Towson, Delaware, Stoney Brook and Madison joining UMass and Bufffalo in the Eastern Division of Kent State/Ohio's conference in the next 5-10 years. Stoney Brook/Towson are rapidly growing...

    Re: Fairfield to the CAA?

At one time, I thought the Atlantic 10 would fit Towson, Delaware, Stony Brook and Madison. Now I think in the long haul the conference with UMass, Kent State, Buffalo would be better or it would be...
  6. Re: Davidson close to joining A-10, CAA-SoCon merger more likely?

I think in the long haul James Madison,Towson and Delaware could move to Umass's and Buffalo's conference. Towson is a little behind Delaware in attendence but will likely catch up the next 5-10...
  7. Re: Davidson close to joining A-10, CAA-SoCon merger more likely?

So the Atlantic 10 is the old CAA. It will be interesting to see what Towson, Delaware and Madison do in the long haul. All have 20,000-25,000 students and I can't imagine they want to play public...
  8. Re: Skerry interviewed for Minnesota, but Pitino is now leading candidate

True. I do think if the CAA adds Albany/Stoney Brook/Vermont/Maine and we come become a top 2 team in the league for 5 years and go to the NCAA or NIT every year, we will have a great shot to get...
  9. Re: Skerry interviewed for Minnesota, but Pitino is now leading candidate

I'm a little older than a 2009 grad or 1984. I have seen us hire 5-6 unproven assistants since 1980 and only hit the jackpot 1 time with Skerry. Even Truax was not a great coach or only finished...
  10. Re: Skerry interviewed for Minnesota, but Pitino is now leading candidate

My hope is he wins big and we build up the bank account to get a proven coach. My whole point with dropping baseball and soccer is it gives us cash for a great chance at winning in the future for...

Re: Baseball is back-at least temporarily

I'm fine with keeping it but not at the expense of underfunding football and basketball or the 2 sports that generate revenue for the athletic department. We saw the last 15 years the result of...

    Re: JMU To the SBC?

I would like to see a FCS or FBS league of medium size schools from North Carolina or Virginia to Maine that would be rivals. It would be mainly an East Coast league.

The schools would be the CAA...

    Re: My New Perfect CAA

Our attendance now is very unpredictable. We had 10,000 come last season for Homecoming and Family weekend and 8,500 for the Old Dominion game? Old Dominion had a reputation of traveling well and...

    College of Charleston
    Hofstra
    Northeastern
  15. Re: Do we really want to be a Gonzaga or Davidson?

Good point. Umass should go back to FCS. They were drawing 12,000-17,000 in football back in their FCS days. I think within 5-6 years we would be similar if we add 3,000 more per game.
  16. Re: Do we really want to be a Gonzaga or Davidson?

I want to be UMass or Temple for athletics. We all have 22,000-25,000 students. Towson also will have about 9,000 undergrad residential students(7,000 live on campus and 2,000 in off campus...

Re: So what's next for the CAA...???

Football gets 10,000 to 20,000 a game at Towson/Delaware compared to about 5,000 at an Atlantic 10 basketball game.
It is a fun time at Towson/Delaware with people tailgating for 4 hours. Still...

Re: JMU "committed to keeping the CAA strong"

Towson requires a minimum GPA of 3.3 in honors classes and about 1,100 SAT in English/Math.
Their requirements have been raised with new on-campus housing.
    Is James Madison's requirements better?

Re: Which School Will be Next to Join the A10?

You forgot they fund football which none of the Atlantic 10 schools fund. They dropped baseball/soccer to pump $1.0 million into basketball. Football costs more than soccer/baseball and basketball...
  20. Re: Another Point of View (GMU Leaving is Great for Towson)

In 1-2 years the Atlantic 10 and CAA will be the following with the Atlantic 10 looking to grab 4 more teams from the CAA

Atlantic 10- Mason, Richmond, GW, Lasalle, St. Joe, Fordham, St. Bon, and...

  23. Re: Another Point of View (GMU Leaving is Great for Towson)

We are going to have to become the big fish in a small pond like Davidson is. If we win big the next 2-3 years, the Atlantic 10 will come calling. I see UMass, Temple, Butler, Charlotte, Dayton, St....

    Re: New name for CAA

I would not be surprised to see Towson,Madison, and Delaware join the MACC. Towson has $1.0 million more a year with dropping soccer/baseball.

Re: End of the CAA as we know it

Maybe, the MAC may work with Madison/Delaware. Now we have more cash with dropping soccer/baseball.
