  1. I have never nor will I ever lose sleep about ECU. You're kidding yourself if you think a VCU fan should be worried about anything ECU is doing. The basketball programs couldn't be in further places right now. I wasn't worried when you were beating your chest over beating VCU in the past, and my lack of worry was well-founded. You have been a legit threat on the recruiting trail for several years according to your posts the last several years, with little to no basketball success. I have no reason to believe that won't continue. History speaks for itself. Your shtick is so old and ECU's irrelevancy so sustained that I have no reason to take anything you say at face value when it comes to basketball.

You're that insecure that you want to beat your chest over something said several weeks ago? That's sad. I don't even remember the exchange.

I won't be indulging your nonsense anymore. Goodbye Jonesn.

You should be. We have been a legit threat on the recruiting trail despite little to no success. I only posted it because of the comment you interjected on the UNCW board FTR.
  3. There are just as many or more NBA dads whose sons never amounted to anything in college. Again, all sound bytes. I hope Stith does well for you guys, honestly. I don't go up to you beating my chest if we beat you guys for a recruit because quite frankly, I don't measure our program against whether we beat out ECU like you seem to do with VCU.

If you weren't around, no one here would even be thinking about ECU, and that's the truth.
  4. Dude, honestly I don't care. Sanders's measured wingspan at the draft combine was actually 7'5.75" so closer to 7'6. When he committed to VCU he was 6'6 and grew to about 6'9 by the time he got to campus.

We have plenty of players with length. One of our 2012's is 6'6 with a 7'1" wingspan. Those are all nice sound bytes, but mean nothing about whether a kid can play or not.

Good luck to Stith and ECU. Honestly, I'm not losing any sleep over it, just like all the other guys you claimed to beat us out for that never took ECU anywhere. I wish Stith better success than the ones who went before him.

I know who we wanted and we got him. I'm happy for us and I'm glad you're happy with your recruit. Good luck.

Sanders had a 7-5 wing span and was 3 inches taller according to his combine. I was just talking about lenght relative his height, Stith plays bigger than 6-7 like Sanders did with that wingspan. He's also a SF in college, not Center.

I don't know what's so hard to believe about Duke recruiting him. Virginia recruited him, and with his father having been as good as he was and his brother as well, it's pretty clear the potential is there to develop. He's already a state POY over his teamate/ 4 star brother and also a lot bigger than either of them which just adds to the potential.

Good kid from a good family, fits with the Austin Rivers, Grant Hill, Seth Curry, Gerald Henderson, Nolan Smith etc famous athlete fathers and good family types Duke recruits a lot of. Might remind you as well Maynor's dad got drafted to the NBA from ECU. Pedigree certainly can be a nice indicator of future potential even when the recruit is a little under the radar. There are so many successful basketball players who's sons eventually equal or pass them it's certainly worth mentioning. Gerald Henderson's dad even played for you guys, same with Jermey Lamb's.
  7. ...and if Duke was seriously pursuing him, he would not have committed to ECU, VCU, or UNCC no matter how hard any of them were going after him.

At the end of the day I don't care. Our fans wanted Simmons for several months dating back to when he took his visit to VCU in February when it was leaked by our staff that he was coming and the fans were chanting his name on Senior Night. We got our man.

It looks like you got yours. Good luck to you with him. Hopefully he's good and doesn't transfer out like the others.
  8. Seriously man? Larry Sanders had a 7'7 wingspan.

Bryant Stith is his dad. I don't know what his pedigree has to do with anything. He has every incentive to fudge the truth to make his kid look good. Good luck to you guys with him. Not at all concerned that you guys got him. We're doing just fine here and much better than ECU could hope to be.

His father is his coach, and has won the last 2 Virginia championships with him leading the way, not his 4 star brother, not to mention he played in the NBA 10 years. Plenty of good basketball in that family's bloodlines. I think Bryant Stith is plenty credible to confirm an offer mid summer. The fact his son is a lot bigger than he is with a wing span like Larry Sanders is plenty to get excited about with bloodlines like that. Tons of potential. Stay tuned because he obviously has instincts to block 7 shots a game and still hit 80% from the line going a lot the way he attacks the basket. There is a reason Duke was getting involved when we got him.
  10. You have beat your chest about every recruit, you've ever beat us out for and this is going back several years. Why does that matter if you continue to be horrible year after year? I don't get the appeal.
