View Full Version : Predictions about things we'll know in a week....
Ok kids, nuff about predicting things way far off in the future, howsabout predicting 2 things in the immediate future.
First, who will the Post name POY? My guess is Rudy Gay and someone else not named Campbell. Travesty yes, but prolly true.
Second, and more important, since all MidMajors are long done where will Mason end up on MidMajorTop 25?
Before the NIT run, we were ranked 26th (first receiving votes), however we beat Tenn and AP (ranked 18 before they beat #22 Belmont). I figure we gotta jump into the teens, possibly as high as #14. That would be one of, if not the, highest finishes ever for a Mason squad. Any thoughts??
to see the last midmajor top 25 go here (http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/).
The POY is named on April 7. The final Poll comes out April 5.

Gay is the Washington Post POY - :(
Might need to make a sign for the Capital Classic about Folarin being the
REAL Washington Area POY.
My only concern now is who Maryland is going to hire as their new assistant coach now that Patsos left (please not Courtney, please not Courtney, please not Courtney).

Gay is the POY for the Post. I am so glad they covered him all winter long. I really enjoyed reading about him in the Post.....
We are told that since AA and Howard Counties are part of the Post's coverage area that their athletes are eligible. If so, I wonder how many post game articles were written about Gay's team in the Post compared to Springbrook. Maybe its because I was looking for Springbrook articles, but I don't remember seeing too many on Gay's team. No consistency.
I think Mason ends up at #17 in the mid-major poll. Just a guess.
The Washington Times reported that Patsos may be replaced by the Catholic coach.
How do we know Gay is the Post's POY by himself???
When I wrote to the high school sports editor criticizing him for the choice of Gay, he responded that the announcement is not til April 7, and that I should wait until then and see who they honor before complaining. Not to read too much into that, but it doesn't seem an overwhelming vote in Mr. Gay's favor. Of couse, you may know something I don't know....

I should edit my sentence. I predict he will be their POY. Anything else would be a shock. Can you imagine if he had committed to Maryland??? The Post would have named him POY and hired him as Managing Director.

Rudy will be the POY, the Spalding website already listed him as The Washington Post POY...
however
the funny thing is that now on the Spalding website it says, "hopefully Washington Post Player of the Year, which will be announced on April 7". It looks like they might have got a call from an angry Wash Post about letting the cat out of the bag early. Either that, or they came to their senses and decided to give it to someone else or Co-POY's, but the Post isn't smart enough to do that.

It would also explain why the team was supposed to be released this week, but the post postponed the release to next week... maybe they had to retake the POY picture?
Like I said before, the post isn't smart enough for that, are they?
I certainly let the HS Sports Editor know that Spalding's website had Rudy listed as POY sometime last week. Guessing that I wasn't alone, but I love to think I caused some frustration over there. HAHA!!!!!
they're a joke. lets keep folarin up with them so they know Mason isn't messing around.
