To all of you who like to check out our men and women in the pro-am league in the summer, the guys running the league didn't turn the paper work in time to the NCAA. So there will be no pro-am league this summer. The men signed two fairly local guys Brian and Val and the women signed Tish from Newport News, I would have loved to see them and the current players in the league. Bummer.

Thats too bad. I always enjoyed going when I knew the players on the court. I was mad though that they didn't have any kind of rosters, cause all the new girls you had to speculate who they were. Hopefully some other local league will pop up?? I would really like to see Tish play.

Maybe, the players could spend more time conditioning, practicing free throws, threes, passing, layups and rebounds. Just a thought.<img>

Jayhawk, sounds like a good thought. The pro-am is a fun league to watch, but it definately doesn't teach team basketball. It's a no defense, one on one league.

That's too bad. I've always enjoyed the Pro-Am. I didn't go to any games in Suffolk, but I went all the time when the games were at Lake Taylor High.

The Senior High School All Star game is this Sunday. The best senior high school players in the area (boys and girls) play. Penninsula stars vs the Southside stars. Tish Lyons will play, but no Val. John Castleberry's son, Jack, will play.

The games are at Va Wesleyan College. The girl's game starts at 3 pm. Boy's are at 5 pm. Tickets are $5.

I live less than 5 minutes away from VWC (the house I grew up in is across the street from the VWC baseball field), so I may check the game out.

I was wondering why some of our players from the Tidewater area are staying in Richmond to play in the pro-am.
