“To have a (Division) 1-AA football program with scholarships that could compete in the Colonial Athletic Association football league could evolve over the next three or four years,” said Merten.


“We have a bigger budget than some I-AA non-scholarship programs,” said head club football coach Joe Pascale.

I get the feeling Dr. Merten would be very receptive if a potential donor were to say "Here's $10 million" instead of "Here's $10,00". The bottom line is that we need to raise some serious money to have a D-1AA football program. A few hundred thousand dollars isn't going to cut it. We need to raise in the 7 figure range. I would love to have D-1AA football at Mason but we still have to raise some more money.
