Hofstra has 2 games early against 2 Big East teams. They play Nov 22, 2005 @ Notre Dame then play St. Johns Nov 29th, 2005. Hopefully, with the loss of Thomas of ND Hofstra will have a chance to upset the Irish early, only if like last year Hofstra wins games by good gaurd play by controlling the temple of the game and hit the big three's Welcome, the best 1- 2 punch in the CAA Mr. Loren Stokes and Mr. Antoine Agudio. If Hofstra can beat ND early in the season, this will help put the CAA on the national spot light. Last season is last season but Hofstra showed they could hold their own against the Big East Hofstra beat St Johns by 10pts and with a 1 minute left @Syracuse 1pt down Hofstra lost 80-75. ODU fans know first hands giving ODU its only loss @ home late in the season. In the CAA sem finals Hofstra up by 10pts just got cold from the 3 point line. ODU fans go watch the tapes That will not happen this year. I take my hats off to ODU and all of the CAA teams.

I like the idea behind what you're saying and it would be nice to get a win or 2 against that kind of competition. That said, what the @&*$ are they teaching in the english department up there?!

Most of those mistakes are typos. Lets not nit-pick. Those were valid points. ODU still the class of the league and should be the favorites until someone knocks them off.

I think Hofstra will be a very strong team this year and they have my ultimate respect, especially after beating ODU
on senior night at the Ted. However you are simply wearing rose colored glasses in regards to the CAA semi-final against
ODU. Hofstra shot lights out in the first half. That pace was never going to happen the entire game. Also don't you think
ODU's defense and depth had just a little bit to do with ODU's second half comeback. :D

Personally I think it was more your higher seed and getting a cupcake in W and M, while we were the lower seed and had a tough matchup with Drexel allowing your big players to be more rested for the semi's...we were lights out in the 1st and wore down as the game progressed...well except for Agudio

2nd half comeback or 2nd half drubbing?
You be the judge:

Well, it did take you two full games and 36 minutes of a third before you finally built any sort of a lead against Hofstra (using free throws, mostly). Let's not act like those final four minutes of the third game define the match-up.

Second year in a row ODU knocked HU out of the tourney, but double digits both times. We outscored them by 27 over the last 25.5 minutes of play. Wow.

Over the past two years look at the games played by Hofstra and ODU. ALL nail biters and that is what makes a rivalry grow. There is a mutual respect for each other and that should grow as we face each other more in the coming years.

Worn down had something to do with our depth and your lack of it. Maybe this year if you have a tough first round game
you can ask for a day off. Stokes was 3 for 15 shooting for the whole game. I guess he was 3 for 3 in the first 5 minutes.

Dear Mr Jablomi and ODU fans Hofstra and GMU, VA Com are all in your league. Any of these 3 teams can beat ODU. Can ODU fans please give some credit to other teams in the CAA who play other big coference teams its not all about ODU. If any other CAA teams don't beat any good teams outside the CAA ODU and the CAA will never get any respect.

I gave Hofstra respect with my first post. I am just tired of the excuses Hofstra fans keep making
for losing to us in the semi-finals. ODU won that game that day because they were the better team.
Hofstra was better than us at the Ted. That's my point. :D

Agreed. Still some ODU posters make it sound like ODU is too good for the CAA and that the season should not even be played. They sound like ODU should be playing in the ACC. Sorry but it comes off that way.

who from our side has ever made excuses to why we lost that game?? I don't remember anyone, but perhaps I missed something??
I think every Hofstra fan had and still has plenty of respect for ODU's team - we've proven we can play with you as we were the better team at your place, but you were the better team in the tourney, end of story
did we get worn down? absolutely, but that's not an excuse - it's just one reason why we lost - another is ODU was the better all around team w/more depth - that's likely what you're fishing for so there you go
apparently there are not enough compliments about ODU's team to satisfy some ODU fans
ODU is the king until proven otherwise this yr - but I'm with Stu - the "untouchable" stuff should be replaced with a little mutual respect - I would think that's more appropriate - we've had some great games - the ODU/HU matchups have really become exciting - can't wait for the season!

Speaking as an ODU fan who was there on Senior Night when we lost to them, Hofstra is a great team with a super coach. They showed a lot of guts and heart in winning that game.
As far as the tournament loss, yep, we had a easier day with W&M than Hofstra did with Drexel. Simply put, the Hofstra guys ran out of gas at the end, that is way it is important to go in with a better seeding.
Rank has it's privleges, especially at tournament time!!

W over Drexel was first win for Pecora vs Dragons-our first since joining CAA-awful lot of energy (emotional and physical) expended to get huge Dragon off our back. I'm surprised we had anything left for ODU-and were right there with 4+ mins to go!
PS-Let's not forget one point game at our place also!

Yes, ODU had an easier time in the tournament before meeting Hoftra. And yes, if VCU wouldn't have played a tough game against the always scrappy UNCW prior to ODU then maybe the championship game wouldn't have gone into overtime. But, ODU earned the "easier" path to the championship game by being the regular season champs. It sucks when you lose in that situation but that's the way it's supposed to be.
