GMU is known as umm... everyone's 4th choice behind Georgetown, GW and American.

Let's figure out where ODU ranks in the Commonwealth of VA academics wise:

1. University of Virginia
2. William & Mary
3. Washington & Lee
4. Richmond
5. George Mason
6. Virginia Tech
7. James Madison
8. VMI
9. VCU
10. Radford
11. Longwood
12. Hampton
13. Liberty
14. The University of Pheonix Online
15. Strayer University
16. Bridgewater
17. Marymount
18. (drum roll please) ODU

It's getting to be that attending ODU is not worth is anymore because of the increasing tuition costs. It's really not worth it to pay this much to go to this school when I could be going to JMU, GMU or mary washington for the same amount, and be getting a better education on a nicer campus.

What students are saying about GMU...
http://www.studentsreview.com/VA/GMU_comments.html

In the DC area, if you mention that you went to George Mason University, most people just shrug it off like (yeah, so?). This is because in the DC area, George Mason is considered "the default". There is no real alumni base that you can count on for support because, well, everyone went here. This is where all of the rich parents send their under-achieving kids, they all commute here, (because on-campus housing is ridiculously hard to get) and don't say anything to anyone around them. In short, there's no real campus culture or identity in going to GMU, there's nothing about this school that really distinguishes you.

Glad you started this one MF! Very educational.

WOW, on campus housing is really hard to get, you think that might be because so many people want to live on campus? Making a campus life? The person that made that statement is a lot like you bitter and jealous.

Don't know where you got that from, but no way is GMU ahead of VT or JMU. Also, no way in hell is ODU behind VMI, Radford, Longwood, Liberty, any online school, Strayer, Bridgewater, or Marymount.

The reality is probably
1. UVA
2. W&M
3. VT
4. Hampden-Sydney
5. JMU
6. Randolph-Macon

The rest is arguable, but I can tell you Radford, Lynchburg, Christopher Newport and Longwood are at the bottom

So wait, let me get this straight. I am bitter and jealous because I posted a GMU student's perspective of their school? And after you did the same with an ODU student's quote? Okay then. You are funny dude.

So am I jealous of the fabulous GMU education I didn't receive (and that great job that I am sure you got, but I just didn't have the credentials to get) or for your 6th place finish in the CAA?

I completely made up the order. You guys should have gotten suspicious when I put the University of Pheonix Online ahead of ODU.

I thought it was obvious Tom, but I guess you had a number of the ODU folk worried.  University of Phoenix On-line, that's a good one.

Most people would like me in person. Sometimes I try to stir the pot on here and take it a little too far. The trick is not to take it personally.

when odu comes to fairfax, someone make sure tony mercurio brings some extra cash to pay for the two seats he has to sit in.

There a plethora of hard working alums from both Mason and ODU. Mason has its good programs , ODU has its good programs. In basketball last season ODU kicked Mason's butt in Norfolk and Mason kicked ODU's butt in Fairfax. On the boards most of the ODU fans and Mason fans are decent peole. Both schools have about 3 fans who are trolls on these boards. To the rest of y'all I wish a happy Sunday Night with your families.
