View Full Version : Reserved for the Top 5 Bball Teams in the CAA last season

This thread is reserved only for the teams that finished in the top 5 in the CAA last season (don't want to waste eveyone's time with opinions from the non-competitive bottom dwellars).
Here's the task: As objectively as possible, predict how your team will fare this year.
Again, if your team didn't finish in the top 5 last season, don't bother to waste our time with your rants.

Drexel will finish higher then they finished last year despite our departing players. We have alot of talent returning and from what I am hearing, our freshman are looking pretty good. If our gaurds can stay healthy we will have a good year.

The problem here Blahi is that everyone will probably predict their team to do better. I think that ODU is the class of the league. Every other team has question marks. Never count out Bruiser Flint and Drexel. Still they have players to replace and you never know what you are going to get with freshmen no matter how highly touted they are. VCU should be solid you need to play your A game to beat them. UNCW surprised most of us last year but I cant see them repeating last years results. As for my Hofstra team we have more depth than last year but Gibson and Radjeweski played vital roles. Expect to see us less dependent on Stokes and Aqudio. Depending on how well our frontcourt developes we could finish anywhere from #2 to #5. Either way I look for us to win 13 games in conference . This conference is deep with very few easy games. Road wins will be a premium this year.

I predict ODU will finish higher than last year.

so basically what your saying is if you did good last year you are going to do good again or if you sucked last year you will suck this year. You dont take in account graduations, new recruits, transfers, or injuries? This isn't a rant btw, its just common knowledge that last years result isn't a correlation on how a team will perform this year.

Gonzo, how dare you bring logic into a thread started by Blahi. It goes against every principle he stands for.

Tom! What did Blahi tell you? All these trolls can have free reign on our boards but how dare you step into a post he started where he explicitly said GMU posters were not allowed? You might get banned for this, and probably me too. Hope you are happy.

If UNCW doesn't do as well, it will be because the CAA is simply a great league. Brownell really had a good year coaching them up last year as that team wasn't projected to do much. They definitely have more athleticism/young talent this year but will miss Coombs and Lane's experience and abilities. My guess is that they will be a tough out simply because of Brownell and staff's ability to coach and the overall consistency of the program. The problem is that you can be a good team and that may not be enough in this league this year. UNCW fans do have reason to be excited about this team and even more excited about the longer term after this year. It's the preseason fellas! :) BTW... ODU is clearly the team to beat right now and picking 2-7 is a crapshoot.

This "reserved" thread is a load of hooey.
The originator should reserve it for himself and just keep sending himself inane messages.

But one of this year's top-5 teams wasnt in the league last year?
Oh wait was I not supposed to post here anyways? I hope I'm not wasting you're time!
(and now that I'm at it, who 'wastes time' on an internet message board? I dont believe it!)

I have no excuse, gmusig. I was told that I wasn't invited into this thread because my team finished 6th, and yet I couldn't control myself. I am really ashamed and should be punished by ZA.
That said, I was thinking that I would be happy to not post again on this topic if we all adhered to the rules of each specific thread. For example, if we put a header on every thread from here on out that said "Reserved for Non-Virgins," we would never have to read another post again from Blahi, Monarchmac or TM. (Oh, and sex with one another doesn't count.)
All in favor?

Tom, Your posts are crass and tasteless. I hope you are banned for your gross personal attacks. Frankly, I expect more from a "serious" basketball poster. In an attempt to start a conversation amongst the CAA's elite (of which, you don't qualify) you instead take this way out of bounds.

You claim that we aren't in the CAA elite, but this photo from your game against us in Fairfax last year says otherwise.

Refresh my memory again, Tom-- did GMU even finish in the Top 5 in the CAA last season???

Since you are talking about the past Blahi, refresh my memory what was Taylor's record at ODU before last season....below .500. Oh, and how many years did it take ODU to get to the post season?

Actually, if you would read my original post-- this is about the present-- how teams will fare this year. I just wanted to focus the dialogue by limiting it to quality teams.

You are being very discriminatory and limiting BLAHI. There are teams that weren't in the Top 5 that are VERY CAPABLE of moving up.

If you read the title of the thread and your post right about mine, you clearly are talking about the past. If you really wanted to talk about the present and this season you could reserve the thread for teams picked in the top 5 in preseason polls.

MF, you can't help yourself can you? I don't want to get into a pissing contest with you guys. You are very intimidating. We have all agreed we have had enough of that, haven't we?
This is about how the best teams in CAA view themselves, and I have gotten some very insightful responses. GMU didn't finish in the top 5 last year. Go start a thread where the bottom dwellars make team predictions. Sounds like a blast. Now beat it.

You don't want to get is pissing contest but you start threads like this and make comments like that. Again if you really wanted to talk about the top teams in the CAA, and 12 team conference this year, and talk about the present and this season you would invite a discussion dealing with preseason favorites, which includes Mason, NE, ODU, HU, ODU, UNCW and VCU. Mason has been picked 2nd-4th in a number of preseason polls. But no, you are a joke.
I gotta tell you, the arrogance from odu fans is too much...I'll be sure to be rooting against you guys all year, including out of conference. And if you tell me this hurts the caa as a whole, I don't care.

I actually blame this on GMU folks. This guy has to be a GMU poster in disguise. No one can be this demented unless it's on purpose. I mean, who paints a *** stain on a guy's face and uses the picture for an avatar?

Football Season...otherwise known as "Basketball Pissing Match Season" at VCU, GMU, ODU and Drexel. The main board is a waste of space 9 months out of the year. At least there's some substance to the CAA Field Hockey thread.
Sorry for the interruption, carry on.
