VCU #83
GMU #95
Hofstra #117 ???
You think ODU might crack the top 50 on this one? Andy Katz doesn't think we're that good.....
But then again we're talking about ANDY KATZ......

Who knows. I am sure the Hofstra fans think they are as
good as VCU and this service has them ranked way lower.
There is so much subjectivity IMO after the top 20 teams any
rankings would not surpise me. Which CAA team will be next?
Drexel, Northeastern, ODU?

Who do you think these guys will have picked 2nd? Northeastern?
A 3rd place finish in the conference is still plenty good enough for the Rams to make a return trip to the postseason.

Sounds logical, but after Katz's rationale who knows.

Katz probably has heard Barrea's name a couple times, therefore they will be the top pick. He won't even know enough about ODU to pick them first....

Wow--apparently I've missed some breaking news. I wonder when this was written?
"Who’s In: Eric Whitehurst is the star of the class, but it will be tough for any newcomer to break into the starting lineup, since the projected starting five all started at least 15 games a season ago. The 6-9, 210 pound small forward is talented enough to be starting as a freshman and will at least play a big role off the bench. "

Katz is and has never been a fan of Northeastern's so I can't see the Huskies getting picked over ODU.
Personally, I can't see NU being higher than 3rd or 4th.

Katz didn't have ODU in his top 50 on ESPN.com. He's got some weird reasoning for the crap he writes.

I can't wait to write him and just tell him that "I will contact you in March when you are crying because you left out Old Dominion University in your Summer Top 50. Last year, you were way off in your predictions. You need to get it together. See some games, talk to more than just 80 teams before you claim to name the top 50.......your Wooden List? ALL majors; but the non-major players were all grouped at the bottom......dont' claim to represent college basketball if you aren't going to represent all of college basketball. You will regret not mentioning Old Dominion. I would bet anything on it, including your job."
Oh, and great work Andy! You do a great job in covering the majors, but come on, you've got to stop pretending like you knew a non-major team was good ALL along when you really gave them no press until they won 10 games in a row......be a pioneer.
No comment on Andy Katz. He has totally lost my respect.

Now that his buttswab Tom Brennan and his boy wonder Taylor Coppenrath have left Vermont, there's no reason for Andy Katz to watch mid major hoops in the east.
He's trying to latch on to Dennis Wolff at Boston University, but I can't see that bandwagon taking off any time soon.
He's a front runner and has always been one.
ODU fans, keep pestering him with e-mail, and if that doesn't work, call ESPN and talk to someone there. He'll eventually get sick of it and write something. About 10 of us from NU wrote him daily last year during the qualifying tournament for the U-21s in Nova Scotia last year as he completely ignored Barea (Who was All Tournament and led the tourney in points and assists). I finally had to go over his head to someone at ESPN who was an NU Alum to straighten this dick wad out.

Come on fellas, we all know pre-season picks and talk are simply symptoms of College basketball withdrawal. The college BB mags simply put these previews out because we College BB junkies will read them and talk about them in a time when there is nothing esle to get our College BB "high" on. Its like throwing a couple of rocks to a crackhead. We all know that NU and especially ODU will probably have much better years than most people outside of the CAA predict. If I was a coach I would would rather my team have that proverbial "chip" on their shoulders rather than getting all of this pre-season hype. Besides, (with the exception of Gonzaga) as a mid-major, you can't get respect in the pre-season, you have to get it in the post-season.

We will get some respect from Dick Vitale. Couldn't care less about Katz.
