No way UNCW finishes that high. VCU has it all over them, and I'd take UD over them, as well.

My guess is that it will probably end up

I think that the preseason poll should look like this:
But I think it will end up like this (regular season):
1. VCU (of course I have to say this...I think so though)
I am picking Towson as the W&M of last year (picked last, finished 8th?). I think they have the talent to do a little something this year, so I said it first (and probably last..lol :)) Come tourney time, it's anyone's show....ANYONES.......

GMU and VCU should be clearly above the other schools. They are veteran teams, in a league that will be very young. Delaware may have the best backcourt, so I'll put them third. After that, Drexel, UNCW and ODU should be pretty even. Beyond that, JMU and Hofstra are pretty close, than the dregs.

I predict VCU to finish first or second, definately battling GMU. Either team should win the regular season. I like Delaware and UNCW for the next two spots. Old Dominion will probably be battling Drexel and one surprise team for fifth. W&M could be the surprise team; new coach, prolific scorer and veteran team. Hofstra and JMU could be a surprise, as well.
If I was a betting man, I would take George Mason and VCU to finish first and you could have the other eight teams. I think most people would agree with this statement, making GMU and VCU the favorites.
I think the CAA will be very competitive at the top, with some of the lower teams providing a few upsets. Winning at home will be crucial. It should be an exciting year, can we get more games on TV?
06-19-2003, 10:56 AM
Well, with the Comcast Spectacor deal, we ge at least 5 TV games, in addition to the regular CAA deal. St Joe's will definitely be on Comcast, and I would bet the ranch that the UNC game will be on at least regional TV. Maybe the GW and UNCC games will be two of the other Comcast TV games we have. VA Tech might be the other. Just speculation.
I'll take GMU and VCU, and give anyone else the rest of the league, if there are any gamblers out there (for the regular season title only, however).

Sorry to have to bring this old thread back, but the a holes on these boards keep insisting I said ODU would win the title.
If I am reading my threads correctly, I do NOT predict ODU to win the title.
I said GMU and VCU up top, UNCW slipping, and DU, UD, ODU just below the top two. I'd say I was close.

Whew!....for a moment, I was beginning to question the integrity of every poster on this thread until I got to Jablomi's last post. Thank goodness it's a year old, and for that, I'd have to agree that Jablomi was right on the money with predictions.

Heywood, I don't think anyone is disputing what you said preseason.
After the season started, you were proclaiming ODU as one of the teams to beat. Honestly.
You will see in a day or two......in your exact words. Chill out, man. It's the offseason!!!!!!
06-13-2004, 11:49 PM
I think it is fair to say that ODU WAS one of the teams to beat. They were in contention for the regular season title until the last week of the season, before limping to the finish line. How else would you define "in conention?"[/b]
06-14-2004, 08:11 AM
ODU was in the race until the last week, and they WERE one of the teams to beat.
Toni, don't tell me to chill out when all you do is spend your time looking for old threads you can twist around to make points about me predictions.
Here is the thread where I make predictions about how the teams will finish. I'd say I was pretty accurate.

I think Heywood and I were the only ones to state that early, that UNCW would be pressed to finish above 6th.
06-14-2004, 12:56 PM
Exactly. Matter of fact, I seem to recall a certain young, opinionated VCU fan telling Rammy and I that we were nuts to say UNCW would finish that low. Something along the lines of, "champions always compete", or some nonsense like that. It did not matter that they lost the best player in their history, plus their next two highest scorers.
You could look at UNCW's roster, and see they were not a championship-caliber team.
06-14-2004, 02:57 PM
This is just stupid.
06-14-2004, 05:55 PM
If you are talking about me, I don't think I said anything like that. When I said something remotely close, it was concerning the TOURNAMENT, not the season. UNCW did compete in the tournament, won 2 games.
V4L is right, this is crazy, but it gives us some basketball to discuss, right? :)
06-14-2004, 07:46 PM
No, digging up old threads and starting a pi$$ fight that neither of you will win because you are both more thick headed than even myself is just plain stupid. Both of you get a life!

Can we hold a three round match at next year's tournament for Heywood and Toni? We could sell tickets - and raise enough money to never have to donate to the CAAZone again! That or fund 4life's masters.
I enjoy both of them, but this time I agree 100% with 4life - just drop it.
But let me make a prediction. Heywood doesn't always have to have the last word. But on the other hand Toni always has to have the last post. Always. How much you guys want to bet he will post again?

"That or fund 4life's masters."
I like the way you think! :)
