Virginia beat Johns Hopkins 9-7 to win the 2003 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Rob truthfully last years squad was better. This could have been us last year!

Rob we think about that a lot. That team had senior leadership, a great attack and midfield. The heart of the team though was the defense of Nick Polanco, Evan LaPenna and Brian Zuchelli. That was the best D I have seen at Hofstra.

UVA's goalie Tillman Johnson has sure recovered nicely from his first round collapse against Hofstra 2 years ago where Hofstra rallied from a 14-9 4th quarter deficit to win 15-14 in overtime in probably the greatest win in Hofatra lax history. He looked like a shaky freshman that day but yesterday he showed that he is the best goalie in college lacrosse with some incredible stops. He proves that a hot goalie can carry a team to the title. It was also nic to see a huge crowd of almost 38,000 there as the sport of lacrosse seems to get bigger and bigger each year.
